October Is Significant

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. This could be a couple who has lost a child to miscarriage, SIDS, stillbirth, or any other cause either during pregnancy or while the child is an infant.  Unfortunately, we all likely know of someone who has suffered from one of these.  It is a terribly heart-wrenching journey and the statistics are quite staggering when you look at all of those who are affected by it: there are approximately 2,000 infants who die from SIDS each and every year … the chance of miscarriage is 15-20%, including those women who conceive and miscarry before knowing they conceived … stillbirth affects about 1% of all pregnancies.

This month really sheds light on how sacred and special pregnancy and children are.  For some, the journey is easy, but for others, it is filled with hurt, disappointment, and worry. More than ever, it’s so important that we rally behind each and every one of our friends and family members who are trying to complete their family with a healthy child. Children are a gift – each and every one of them.

As our first ever Hope Against Infertility, Inc. event approaches on October 19th, we are overwhelmed with the support from our community. All of the funds raised from this event go directly towards couples who have applied for a grant on our website and who have started or will be starting treatment to complete their family.

We hope to see you all there on October 19th at Plamann Park in Appleton. Registration is open through the date of the event, and we also welcome day of registrations as well (join us, even if it’s last minute!) If you cannot join us that day, we do have a virtual registration option so you can support from afar.
