Infertility Grant Awarded

Infertility Grant Awarded

We are honored to announce that Hope Against Infertility has awarded their second grant to a local couple who will be doing their treatment in January.  Please help us by sending positive thoughts their way as they continue on this journey.  We wish them so much success and will be praying for them!

The following has been provided by our couple who was awarded the grant and was shared with their permission:

”Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering our family for your amazing program. I met my husband 10 years ago. At that time I was a single mother of two amazing children. Our son is 14 and our daughter just turned 12.  My husband does not have any children of his own, but has always considered mine, his. Shortly after we met, he was an instant and permanent fixture in our life. We felt complete and our family was happy! Therefore, we thought it was a good idea for him to get a vasectomy. This happened in 2011.

As time went on, our children were growing up, we bought a house in 2013, got married in late 2014, and dreamed of what our life would be like with welcoming another baby into our family. In March 2018, after much thought, research and excitement, we took a trip to start the next chapter of our lives. My husband got a vasectomy reversal! This was paid for fully out of pocket, and worth every single penny. We are so excited to start growing our family. Nobody in our family knows that we got the reversal. As everyone knows our desire to have another baby, but also knows our vasectomy did already happen, we decided to keep this a secret and really give everyone the surprise of a lifetime, family and friends included. We love surprises, and we love giving them, and what better surprise than announcing that a new baby is on the way!

After spending many months without conceiving, we started having meetings with my OBGYN, we met with a reproductive specialist, many sperm analysis, met with a urologist for my husband, started a vitamin regimen, and I was also taking Clomid, then Letrozole for months. Our next step was going to be IUI. In September 2019, we found out we were expecting! We got our positive pregnancy test exactly 18 months to the day of the vasectomy reversal. We were very excited!

Sadly, 3 weeks after finding out we were expecting, we ended up in the ER with the devastating news of a miscarriage. After speaking with my doctor, we were advised that due to my advanced maternal age (we are both 37 years old), history of 3 miscarriages, and my husband’s slightly less than perfect sperm count, that is may be difficult for us to conceive using natural methods.

At this point, after so many month of trying with failed results, we wish to further our journey into the next process of IUI. It is hard for us to fathom having to wait another 18 months to achieve a pregnancy, if at all via natural methods. Our insurance does not cover any type of infertility treatment, and we have exhausted our budget to do anything more than ovulation stimulants prescribed by my OBGYN.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and consider us for a grant through this amazing program. Thank you for making this an option for us. We appreciate you!”
